Elior’s Avenance has scooped a five-year catering contract at media empire News International from rival operator Aramark.
The deal, estimated by industry experts to be worth in the region of £5m, sees Avenance deliver catering and hospitality to the four News International titles, The Times, The Sun, The News of The World and The Sunday Times.
Split between the media group’s current buildings in Wapping and its new offices a short distance away at Thomas Moore Square, the first phase of the contract began in September at the four national newspapers’ new combined premises.
Elior’s business and industry division took over the catering operations from Aramark at the original site from October, before winding down its services as the 2,500 staff migrate across to their new home over a period of six months.
Robin Givens, sales director at Avenance, said: "We worked closely with News International to fully understand the customer needs and business demands, demonstrating best practice from our existing London accounts.
"Winning this contract against stiff competition highlights our position as an innovative caterer with creative solutions for a demanding marketplace."
Last year Aramark lost a lucrative catering contract at news service Bloomberg when Compass Group’s Restaurant Associates successfully won the tender process.
