AiP wins £1.5m Bedfordshire school meals contract

Education caterer Alliance in Partnership (AiP) has won a second school meals deal in Bedfordshire, this time worth £1.5m.

The five-year contract at Samuel Whitbread Community College in Shefford sees AiP cater for almost 1,700 pupils aged 13 to 18.

New marketing on campus, wider choice menus and point of sale techniques have been implemented as part of a proactive strategy to drive take-up ahead of the Christmas break.

David Weller, AiP's managing director, said it is a privilege to work with Samuel Whitbread. "Their academic record is excellent and we hope to contribute to the daily enjoyment of the pupils by providing top quality ingredients at a cost effective price point," he added.

"We all know that the continued economic climate is affecting families across the UK and school meals are no different; we have to look after our clients without compromise."

The contract win comes hot on the heels of AiP's first win in Bedforshire, at Harlington Upper High School. It is also one of several contributing to over £3m in new business for the length of term that started in October and the company's growth of more than 100% in three years, AiP said in a statement.
