Swansea man scoops two Walsall hotels  

 
 
Abberley

Walsall’s 28-bedroom Abberley Court hotel and the 23-bedroom Bescot Hotel have both been sold to Harbir Singh from Swansea. The former West Midlands hotel was sold for £650,000 and the latter sold for close to £1.2m. Harbir previously worked in the retail industry. The agent was Colliers Robert Barry.
 
Bristol’s Bunch of Grapes sold
The live-music pub, the Bunch of Grapes in Bristol, has been sold for just below the guide price of £65,000 for the leasehold. Lorraine Higginson from Gloucester is the buyer. Situated just behind the Bristol Hippodrome, the grade II-listed property covers five storeys and has four-bedroom accommodation with a roof garden for the owner. Christie & Co was the agent.

Bristol’s Okra sold   

 

Bristol restaurateur Malek has sold his North African-themed Okra Restaurant for close to £87,000 for the remainder of the 15-year lease. New owners Matthew and Faye Knight, who have catering experience, intend to rename the restaurant “Circle” and serve Mediterranean-style food. The property seats about 45 diners and has outdoor seating for 30. Christie & Co was the agent.

Hoteliers buy Below Decks
Below Decks, a café/restaurant in Torquay’s Waterfront development, has been sold for close to £175,000 for the leasehold, through agents Bettesworths. Guy and Jackie Baker, former owners of the Queens Hotel in Newton Abbot, are buyers of the Devon property. Below Decks has about 40 seats inside and about the same amount outside.

Monaco couple buy country house hotel   

 

The three-star, 21-bedroom Fairwater Head Country House Hotel in Hawkchurch, East Devon, has been sold for fairly close to £1.175m through agents Christie & Co.  A couple from Monaco, Christian and Sarah Leydet, have bought the Edwardian property. Sarah has previously managed hotels in Berkshire. The property has a 42-seat restaurant, a function room and a two-bedroom owner’s flat.

Conifers gets the chop
Conifers restaurant in Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset has been sold for a sum in the region of £325,000. New owners Mike and Nicole Beacham plan to rename the property “The Terrace” and hope to open with a new menu in the spring. The local couple want to create an outside eating area at the front of the restaurant to enhance the inside seating which numbers about 30 seats. Bettesworths was the agent.

Expansion for Thai Boathouse
Thai Boathouse, the owner of several Thai restaurants in England, has acquired a 25-year lease for a new flagship restaurant in Birmingham. The rent rate is in the region of £70,000 a year. The Victorian grade II-listed property is 4,278sq ft and covers two floors. Christie & Co was the agent.

Mrs Piper’s sold to caterer
Mrs Piper’s Restaurant & Teas in Woodbridge, Suffolk, has been sold for very close to £28,500 for the remaining four years of the 21-year lease. The grade II-listed tearooms, which can seat 40 diners, have been sold to caterer Paul Barratt. Christie & Co was the agent.
