Scotland-based contract caterer Almond Catering has won its first deal in the North of England.

The company is providing services to staff and students at the University of Cumbria at its Brampton and Caldewgate campuses, in a four-year deal worth £1.26m in total turnover that began this month.

The caterer, which has taken over from Compass Group’s Eurest Services, will provide around 156,000 meals a year, with a team of fifteen staff running a Costa Coffee, new deli bars, vending and hospitality at the sites.

Almond managing director Aitken said: “This is an important and prominent contract win for us. We have already established a track record and excellent reputation in Scotland and are delighted to bring our unrivalled service to establishment in the north of England.”

The caterer, set up in 2004 by Alan Aitken, counts VisitScotland, engineering firm John Wood Group and GE Caledonian as clients.
