OCS sets its sights on the catering market

OCS, the integrated services company best known for providing cleaning services in the UK, has revealed plans to take on catering giants Compass and Sodexo at their own game.

The company said it hopes to increase catering revenues in its newly-formed Business and Industry division – incorporating Just Deli, Food House and Eligo (City fine-dining) - by £11m in the current financial year to around £69m.

Lois Heywood, key accounts sales director at OCS, told Caterersearch she had no doubt that the service provider’s catering would measure up to its rivals.

She added that, with so many options to offer, including security, waste disposal, grounds maintenance and hygiene services, the recession was playing into the company’s hands.

“It’s an absolutely fantastic time to be an integrated services provider,” Heywood said. “Clients want to stick with who they know and there are very few companies out there that can self-deliver all the services we can.”

OCS restructured last year in a bid to create a flatter operating structure to more easily offer clients a spread of its 200 services.

The company lost out in February when its cleaning duties for National Grid were taken on by Compass’s Eurest Services, the incumbent caterer at the utility company. The five-year deal was worth £63m in total turnover over five years.
