Fluid Movement consultancy to open its first bar
Bartending consultancy Fluid Movement is to open its first bar in London after buying the leasehold on the site of the former Dock Blida bar in Marylebone.
The company, which was responsible for designing the cocktail menu for bar operator Drake & Morgan's recently-opened Anthologist in Gresham Street, London, bought the property for an undisclosed sum.
The unit, which will be re-named Purl, consists of a main bar and several smaller seating areas, some of which are vaulted creating intimate space for small groups.
Fluid Movement is run by directors Thomas Aske, Bryan Pietersen, Tristan Stephenson and Matt Whiley.
Fluid Movement said: "We are excited about the opportunity to open Purl which is our flagship venue in Marylebone and taking cocktail drinking in the capital to a new level. The history around Marylebone fits perfectly with Purl's concept and the luxury drinking environment we are creating, bringing forgotten and classic cocktails into the modern era."
Katie Wallace from Christie + Co's London Bars and Restaurants team said: "Fluid Movement's experience and vision for the Dock Bilda should ensure that this new venture is a successful and popular addition to Central London's bar scene."
