Coventry is to get its first luxury hotel after a deal between Radisson Edwardian and developer Oakmoor Deeley.
The £40m, 184-bedroom property in Belgrade Plaza will house 12,000sq ft of conference and banqueting facilities on completion.
Nick Barber, of property agent Atisreal, which acted on behalf of Oakmoor, said: “At the moment, within Coventry’s outer ring road there is not a single luxury hotel and no hotel has onsite parking. By creating this property, Radisson Edwardian will completely alter the hotel offering in the city.”
The £130m Belgrade Plaza development will also house a Gala casino and 109-bedroom Premier Travel Inn, as well as residential areas.
Radisson’s new Coventry site will be its second property outside London, after Manchester opened in 2004. The new hotel is due to open in 2009.
