Accessible ice-cubers from Hubbard

Wednesday 30 May 2007 06:02
The improvements incorporated into Scotsman AC206 under-counter ice-making machines stem from research carried out with the UK branch of the Foodservice Consultants Society International and European bar and hospitality operators. Findings highlighted the need to site machines for maximum access but with minimal physical and visual intrusion on the back-bar workspace.

Resultant features on the AC206, which is designed to produce "super-cubes", include a maximum height of 860mm, which is 160mm lower than the previous comparable Scotsman AC175 machine. The new machines have rear wheels to assist manoeuvrability, production rates have been increased by 51% (to a maximum of 130kg per 24 hours) and storage is up by 78% (to 50kg). Corresponding gains have been made in energy efficiency.

Other features include stainless-steel and ABS shell with radiused verticals, low-noise door-closing mechanism, customisable point-of-sale display and illuminated on-off switch. Hygiene and maintenance advantages include condenser filter maintenance warning signal, integrated storage bin bacteria control, easy-access washable condenser filter and water pump filter, and limescale removal sump.
