Old Rectory Country hotel

A local buyer has taken on the historical Old Rectory Country hotel - once the home of poet Henry Vaughan - in the Powys village of Llangattock.

The Welsh stone property sits in 11 acres of grounds beside the River Usk near Crickhowell in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The original parts of the building date back several centuries while a wing of new bedrooms has been added in the past decade.

Retained architectural features include a stone entrance porch with coach arches, old oak beams, and a reception hall/lounge with an inglenook-style fireplace.

Along with 20 en-suite bedrooms, the hotel has a main bar, a 40-seat restaurant, a meeting/conference room for 20 to 40 delegates, and a first-floor function room licensed for 150 guests.

The two-star hotel also offers a nine-hole golf course.

The Bristol office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off an asking price of £1.1m on behalf of Stuart, Michelle and Steve Williams who have owned the hotel for the past 15 years.
