Ready, steady, stop... erm, you're going the wrong way, guys!
The managing partner of Ireland's tallest hotel showed his staff he knows a thing or two about getting to the top last month, by racing them up 17 flights of stairs in aid of charity.

Sean Lally beat off the best efforts of his staff and arrived at the penthouse rooftop terrace of the Clarion hotel in Limerick in seven minutes.

Filmed by national TV station RTE, the race was screened on 21 May as part of the People in Need telethon day. Money raised from the race will go to Limerick charities.

Busker Idol Pisana wins free room
Newly opened Covent Garden Travelodge has crowned the country's first Busker Idol. Singer and guitarist Andrew Pisanu, 25, has been busking for just six months, but beat off competition from hundreds of other applicants - singers, musicians, jugglers and mimes - to win a rent-free room for a year at the hotel.

To mark the first anniversary of London Underground's licensed busking scheme - run in association with Carling - Pisanu also received an honorary licence so he can continue working on his dream of making it into the music business.

Winner East is heading West
Sarah East is off to the Big Apple courtesy of contract caterer Blue Apple.

East works for the company as chef manager at its Aspect Communications contract at Stockley Park near Heathrow, and as an employee of the month she was automatically entered into the annual draw alongside her other winning colleagues. Luck was with her, and she won the trip for two people at the company's spring barbeque last month.
