Fruit pyramids and hibiscus flowers from Porter Foods

Thursday 30 August 2007 08:06

Porter Foods has been introducing innovative gourmet products from around the world into the UK retail and food service markets for more than 20 years.

Fruit Pyramids are a cheeseboard accompaniment and will match with most cheese types. Each 75g paste pyramid contains 500g of reduced fruit and is free from wheat, gluten, added colours, preservatives and flavourings. There are three varieties: Fig and Almond; Pear and Hazelnut; and Apricot and Pistachio.

Australian Wild Hibiscus Flowers are designed for celebrations and parties. Simply add a single hibiscus flower to a flute of Champagne or sparkling wine for a subtle raspberry-and-rhubarb flavour.

Chef's comments: "The Fruit Pyramids are an interesting concept that will encourage people to enjoy cheese. They have a great texture and really interesting flavour combinations. The Wild Hibiscus Flowers look fantastic in drinks. You can actually eat the flower, which is an interesting and visually appealing take on the classic olive in a martini." – Mark Read, corporate head chef at London’s Mango Tree restaurant
