Merrill J Fernando founded Dilmah Tea in 1988, vowing to "bring quality back to tea" after perceiving in the 1950s that tea had become a mere commodity traded by only a few large corporations.

One of the first Sri Lankans to have had the opportunity to be trained in tea, Fernando now aims to provide lovers of fine tea with a product "picked, perfected and packed" at origin.

Chef's comments: "This product has great packaging - a stylish silver tin, with a resealable double tin lid to retain the freshness. The tea itself is nicely packaged in silk pyramid bags, which add to their luxurious feel. The smell and flavour of this tea is really impressive - distinctive and of good quality." – Mark Read, corporate head chef at London’s Mango Tree restaurant
