Matthew Stephens has joined Catering Services International as area development manager and will oversee the firm's expansion, which will see it increase its branches from six to 12 throughout 2005. He joins from Cadbury Schweppes, where he was responsible for rolling out and managing the first Café Cadbury (later renamed Cadbury Cocoa House).
Golden Tulip UK has appointed
Sarah Burnett as sales manager for its Newcastle Gateshead Tulip Inn, due to open on 13 October. Burnett was corporate sales account manager for Marriott's four hotels in the North-east.
Susanne Hatje has joined the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group to oversee the company's new hotel under development in Hong Kong. The Landmark is due to open in the spring of next year. Hatje was manager of the Kahala Mandarin Oriental in Hawaii.
Hotel group North British Trust (NBT) has promoted
Graeme McDiarmid to general manager of marketing, research and development. He was general sales manager at the company's Edinburgh head office.
Christine Miller has been promoted to communications and brand manager and was previously marketing manager.
Jeremy Legg has become general manager of EasyBreaks and reservations - EasyBreaks being NBT's holiday booking arm. Legg was previously an area manager with responsibility for nine of the company's hotels.
British Hospitality Association chief executive
Bob Cotton has taken over the presidency of industry charity Hospitality Action. He assumed his role earlier this month and will promote the organisation's fundraising activities over the coming year.
Pelham House hotel in Lewes, East Sussex, has selected
Jacqueline Head as general manager and
Jill Armstrong as deputy general manager. Head was sales manager at the Royal Albion hotel in Brighton. Armstrong has made her move from rooms booker Hotel America, where she was a director.
Simon Smith has been appointed by BDL Hotel Group as general manager of its Express by Holiday Inn Hemel Hempstead hotel, which will open on 18 October. He was previously operations manager at the Holiday Inn Cambridge hotel.
Richard Curtis has become vice-president marketing (Europe, Middle East and Africa) at the Small Luxury Hotels of the World consortium. He has held director-level marketing positions for hotel companies Hilton and Marriott.rs

Ralph Porciani has joined the Westin Turnberry Resort in Ayrshire as executive chef. He was executive chef director at Chamberlain's seafood restaurant in Leadenhall Market, London.
