Former Compass manager launches take-away pasta concept

A former Compass operations manager is launching a pasta takeaway concept and is on the lookout for sites in central London.

Liz Kenny hopes to launch Pastina, a takeaway concept offering portions of freshly cooked pasta, by Christmas.

Cooked to order in less than a minute, portions of individually quick frozen pasta will be offered with a range of eight different pasta sauces. Served in branded takeaway containers, portions will range from £3.20 to £4.50.

Pastina will also serve cold pasta salads as well as breakfast offering porridge, fresh fruit and Pannetone buns with a selection of jams and hot and cold drinks.

Kenny told Caterersearch she was hoping to roll out around five outlets in the next three years at sites including shopping malls and other city centre locations with a high footfall.

“We have funding in place for the first outlet but are hoping to attract investors to roll out further units,” she said.

“It’s a flexible concept that will work in small units and kiosk sites.”

Kenny added: “All the food will be freshly prepared from natural ingredients. Initially we will offer small pasta shapes such as penne with sauces including Bolognaise, Carbonara and pesto but eventually we will offer filled pasta as well.”

Kenny has instructed to property agents Christie & Co to find sites for the roll out.
