Former Acorn award winning chocolatier William Curley and his wife Suzue have closed their shop in London’s Shepherd’s Market just a year after acquiring the site and are relocating to the Victoria area, Caterersearch has learnt.

The move is understood to be a result of the duo terminating their business partnership with the Chocolate Society, which originally operated a retail outlet at the Shepherd’s Market site before it joined forces with the Curleys in October 2007.

Until the Curleys’ new premises is acquired they will concentrate on building up production of their range of artisan chocolates and patisserie out of a new central production unit they have acquired in Twickenham, south-west London and their original retail outlet in nearby Richmond, which opened in 2004.

Curley confirmed that his joint venture with the Chocolate Society at John Lewis on London’s Oxford Street will also close.

“I want to concentrate 110% on building up the William Curley brand, including developing a new website and the online shopping and raising our profile abroad,” he told Caterersearch.

Curley’s previous career included a stint as head pastry chef at London’s Savoy hotel and working with Marc Menau in France.
