A hotelkeeper in Scotland has been fined £900 after he failed to clean up his premises despite seven separate visits from environmental health officers.
Nicholas Milne, 33, of the Grampian Hotel, Keith, admitted failing to comply with hygiene-improvement notices during a hearing before Elgin Sheriff Court.
Health officers reported that the premises were in filthy condition. One visit encrusted vomit was found on the floor of the function room.
When questioned by health officers Milne had said he was waiting for funding from the brewery so that he could upgrade the premises.
Milne did not attend the hearing in person, his plea being given by his solicitor. Evidence was given that he is living in Holland and that he no longer owns the hotel.
