Cawleys food waste collection vanLuton-based Cawleys waste solution enables caterers in London, the South-east and the Midlands to achieve zero-landfill status by turning their food waste into renewable energy and organic fertiliser.

Its Food Recycling Round takes caterers' food waste bins to Bedfordia Group's biogas plant, where it is separated from plastic, tin, card and paper, processed, mixed with pig manure, pasteurised and passed in to a fermenter for anaerobic digestion.

The methane gas is converted in to electricity for the National Grid, while the remaining liquid becomes organic fertiliser.
