Ember Inns and Macmillan Cancer Relief have joined forces in a bid to raise £50,000 this Christmas.

The Christmas Tree of Thought initiative will start this Friday at 6pm (2 December), when all 171 Ember Inns across the UK will switch on their Christmas tree lights simultaneously to mark the start.

For a charitable donation, pub-goers are invited to write messages of hope on cards which will be displayed around the pubs.

All money raised will go to Macmillan in order to provide grants, support centres, cancer care buildings and support the charity’s medical staff.

Jane White, senior marketing manager at Ember Inns, which is part of Mitchells & Butlers, said: “Christmas is the ideal time to be thinking of others, and we’re really excited about the Tree of Thought initiative and hope lots of people want to be involved.”
