Michelin has awarded 32 restaurants in Italy with new stars, including Da Vittorio, which has become country’s sixth establishment to hold the top accolade of three stars.

Located near Bergamo in northern Italy, Da Vittorio is run by the Cerea family with brothers Enrico and Roberto overseeing the kitchen. Their modern menu has garnered them critical acclaim beyond Italy, with Enrico having trained with Ferran Adria at El Bulli and Roberto having worked under Michel Troisgros at Troisgros.

Michelin promoted seven restaurants to two-star ranking, and awarded 24 establishments their first stars.

The new two-star restaurants are: Piazza Duomo, Alba; Antica Corona Reale-da Renzo, Cervere; Il Mosaico, Ischia-Casamicciola Terme; La Madia, Licata; Il Pellicano, Porto Ercole; Trenkerstube, Tirolo; and Met, Venice.

The awards mean Italy now has a total of 272 starred restaurants, nearly twice as many as the UK and Ireland’s 137, including six with three stars, 37 with two and 229 with one.

Michelin has also awarded 12 restaurants in the Netherlands new stars, including one establishment achieving a second and 11 their first star. Restaurant Boreas in Heeze became the 13th restaurant in the country to hold two stars.
