Rombouts, the coffee company which made its name through single-serve filter coffee, has now become an approved City & Guilds training centre.

This allows it to offer the Level 2 VRQ award in Barista Skills, the only nationally-recognised qualification in coffee-making.

“Nowadays, it is very often the barista who is first to meet the customer, so training is vital – especially when it comes to espresso, as a good barista can make a good bean great, and a poor barista can make a great bean bad!” commented Rombouts’ managing director Rob Briggs.

“In addition, in this economy, training is key to serving the perfect coffee, which can make the difference between selling one drink or two, and which can help win customers from competing outlets.  With this in mind, we are delighted to be able to offer a training facility where people can choose to take a specialist qualification.”

The Vocational-related Qualification was developed by City and Guilds from an initiative by the Beverage Service Association. Training can be held at Rombouts or on a customer’s premises, although the City & Guilds assessment has to be taken at the Rombouts training centre.

For further information, contact Rombouts on  0845 6040188 or email  info.uk@rombouts.com.
