Local nightclub operator Kingdom Entertainment Group has taken on the Fridge nightclub in Brixton, London.

Christie + Co announced last week that it was marketing the Fridge, after insolvency practitioners David Rubin & Partners were appointed as receiver of the nightclub last week.

The nightclub, which has a capacity for up to 1,700 people, was at the heart of the early 1980s New Romantic movement, featuring such artists as Eurythmics and the Pet Shop Boys.

Stephen Katz of receivers David Rubin and Partners said: “We are very pleased to have been able to preserve this iconic London nightclub. Since the receivership, two pre-booked events have taken place, between them amounting to over 1,100 pre-sold tickets. We would also like to acknowledge the role of Lambeth Council in assisting with the swift transfer of operating licences at short notice to ensure that the events took place and that ticket holders were not disappointed.”
