Deutsche Bank gives Eurest more time
Eurest, part of the Compass Group, has renewed and extended its contract with investment bank Deutsche Bank for a further five years.
Eurest will serve more than 10,000 meals a day to staff at 25 sites across Germany. The contract has an annual turnover of about €20m (£14.2m).
Eurest has also won a contract with the Turkish military to provide meals at its Naval Command Centre in Kocaeli, on the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul. Turnover here will be $5m (£3.1m) a year.
Avenance deal is legally binding
Avenance expands its contract with law firm DLA next month, with a one-year rolling contract to feed 1,000 employees, worth £335,000 a year.
Avenance will run four further sites in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sheffield, and Bradford, in addition to its existing Leeds contract, held for the past three years.
At the new sites, Avenance will offer deli "grab and go" concepts and Starbucks coffee, and will invest in new counters to provide buffet lunches.
Leith's reconquers Stirling Castle
Leith's has retained its contract at function venue Stirling Castle for a further four years. Turnover is £3.6m over the four years.
The Compass-owned caterer will invest in kitchen and serving equipment to extend plated service for as many as 300 guests.
Leith's is also planning medieval and Scottish-themed packages in conjunction with government agency Historic Scotland.
Slimmers can count on Sodexho
Sodexho has signed a deal with Weight Watchers to provide the slimming brand in staff restaurants.
The two companies have introduced a new hot food range, with each meal's calorific content displayed as Weight Watchers points.
The meals are available at 45 UK workplaces, including Kraft Foods, B&Q, JP Morgan and Panasonic.
New manual on sustainable policies
Good Food on the Public Plate, a manual to help public-sector caterers pursue sustainable policies, has been published by Sustain, the alliance for better food and farming, and East Anglia Link.
The manual is intended for suppliers and caterers as a key source of information on the theory and practice of public-sector catering using sustainable resources. It contains 15 case studies from across the world.
