Telling a Second story
The Second Floor restaurant, bar and brasserie will open in the new Harvey Nichols store in Manchester on 11 August. It will combine a formal 92-seat restaurant, serving Continental-style dishes, with an informal 102-seat brasserie with a pan-Asian menu and an adjacent bar which will extend into the brasserie at night. The menus will be overseen by head chef Robert Craggs, and the restaurant, bar and brasserie will have a separate entrance.
Blue Coyote night howls
Tyne & Wear-based Aquaclear has opened the 90-seat Blue Coyote bar and grill in Newcastle, which will provide drinks, cocktails, snacks or full meals 24 hours a day.
The menu offers dishes from Argentina, the Mediterranean, North Africa and Morocco, as well as Tex-Mex meals.
Aquaclear also owns the River Bar and Ristorante Fiume in Washington, Tyne & Wear.
Bistro 10 by the Bay
Restaurateur Babak Arabastani is to open his second restaurant in Cardiff Bay's £25m Mermaid Quay waterside development in late August.
The 60-seat Bistro 10 will join the existing Signor Valentino Italian restaurant but will serve a fusion menu of dishes from around the world, as does Arabastani's Bistro 116 in the Cathays area of Cardiff.
Arabastani also owns Bella Napolini in Swansea and Valentino's in Cowbridge.
Cedars raises its Stocks
Cedars is the name of the new restaurant opened at Stocks, the Georgian country house hotel in Aldbury, Hertfordshire, as part of a £1m refurbishment.
The 30-seat restaurant is headed by chef Gavin Maguire, who describes his cuisine as "modern European with a dash of the eclectic" and offers a seven-course epicurean tasting menu.
Maguire has worked at the Michelin-starred Chapter One in Kent, at Aubergine, the Greenhouse and the Capital hotel in London, plus Cliveden and Lainston House near Winchester.
