InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has gone into partnership with Shanghai University to create its first dedicated hospitality academy in the world.
The scheme, which will be inaugurated in September, will offer two-year programmes that combine theoretical sessions, lectures by IHG executives and an internship with the hotel group.
Shorter programmes to enhance specific skills such as housekeeping and front office will also be offered.
Patrick Imbardell, chief executive of IHG Asia Pacific, said that establishing the academy reinforced the company's commitment to providing career opportunities for local talent.
He said: "This will ensure we have a steady pool of well-trained talent for our industry
in the years to come."
