BHA honours Britten, Turner and Quinn

Monday 31 July 2006 00:00
Tourism boss Alan Britten, chef-patron Brian Turner and Ark Foundation co-founder Michael Quinn were all winners at this year's British Hospitality Awards.

The British Hospitality Association (BHA) awards ceremony held at the association's annual lunch in London this week honoured individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to tourism and hospitality.

Britten was applauded for his role in developing tourism in this country as chairman of the English Tourist Board and, more recently, as chairman of the committee that harmonised Britain's differing grading systems for hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs.

Turner's award was for his unstinting work to encourage young people into the sector and to improve vocational skills.

Quinn's work for the Ark Foundation was described as a "lifeline" for staff struggling with alcohol or drug problems.
