David Turner is to quit his role as board operations director at late-night bar operator Regent Inns on 1 November.
Turner, who plans to pursue other business interests, has played a key role in the development of the group’s Australian-themed Walkabout bars since he joined the company in July 2000.
He came on board at a time of major change and rationalisation at Regent Inns, which the month before had bought the eight Jongleurs comedy clubs out of a joint-venture with John Davy.
The group subsequently decided to concentrate on its Jongleurs and Walkabout brands and to sell off its Discrete Estate of non-themed bars.
A replacement for Turner will be announced later in the year.
