Glasshouse restaurant and Claytons bar

A bar and roof-top restaurant in the heart of the North Devon town of Barnstaple is seeking a new owner.

Mentor Inns, which owns 18 pubs around the country, is seeking £1.3m for the freehold on the Claytons bar and Glasshouse restaurant through the Exeter office of Christie + Co.

The three-storey terraced property in Cross Street provides a number of open-plan trading areas.

The contemporary Claytons bar on the ground floor, which can seat 59, includes an unusual glass floor area that reveals the original wine cellars.

The Glasshouse restaurant on the first floor, which opened a year ago, can seat 44 diners while the terrace (which came on stream earlier this year) provides seating for 20 customers, along with a 16-seat dining area.

The second floor is taken up with a self-contained manager’s flat.
