First-time buyer Marchella Courtfield-Mah has acquired the Painswick hotel, which features in the Cotswolds’ Finest Hotels guide.

The country house-style hotel and restaurant is a Palladian-style, Grade II-listed building in the centre of the Gloucestershire village of Painswick  It was built around 1790 for the wealthy rectors of the village.

The three-star property offers 19 en-suite bedrooms, a 43-seat restaurant with an AA rosette, a first floor bar (the former chapel), two lounges/meeting rooms and a library.

An early 19th century Italianate Loggia (a covered patio or veranda) overlooks the gardens, croquet lawn and the Painswick valley.

The business enjoys year-round business from domestic and overseas visitors, weekend and short-break customers, commercial travellers. It also enjoys a brisk local restaurant trade and is popular for weddings and parties.

The Bristol office of Christie + Co sold the hotel off a guide price of £2m on behalf of Max Sabatini.
