Five-star hotels in London most expensive for Wi-Fi in Europe

Five-star hotels in London have the most expensive wireless broadband access in Europe, according to a new survey.

Internet software company Webaroo claims five-star properties in the capital charge an average of £19.70 per day for internet access. 

This compared with £16.09 in Munich and £15.34 in Amsterdam.

The survey, which was conducted between September and October and included Edinburgh, Dublin, Paris, Munich, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome and Amsterdam, found Ibiza was the cheapest luxury hotel destination for access at £6.68.

On average five-star hotels in Europe charge £14.17 a day for internet access.

Paris was the most expensive airport in Europe for Wi-Fi access at £20.

Earlier this month the authors of the Good Hotel Guide accused some hotels of ripping off customers when it came to Wi-Fi charges.

However, hoteliers hit back arguing the installation and running of commercial Wi-Fi was not as straightforward or cheap as domestic services.
