A new all-day brasserie will launch in London next month featuring 1920s interiors inspired by Coco Chanel's Paris apartment. The Balcon will open on 17 October on the site previously occupied by Brasserie Roux on Pall Mall in St James.

Award-wining London tapas bar Barrica is to open a second site in the West End, with the launch of a new restaurant in Soho. Located on D'Arblay Street, on the former site of Bar Chocolate, the new restaurant will comprise 1,200sq ft spread over the ground floor and basement.

Rhubarb has announced plans to open a pop-up restaurant for the LAPADA Art & Antiques Fair next week. The caterer, which operates at the Royal Albert Hall, Saatchi Gallery and the Royal Ascot Racing Club, will run the temporary restaurant from 21 to 25 September.

Gordon Ramsay Holdings has opened its first Canadian restaurant, under a licensing agreement, by taking over the running of Rotisserie Laurier BBQ, which has operated in Montreal since 1936. Ramsay, who acts as a consultant, aims to carry on the traditions of the original restaurant.

Spanish chef José Pizarro has unveiled details of his forthcoming restaurant, Pizarro, which will open this autumn. Located on Bermondsey Street near London Bridge, the new restaurant will be located just 200m away from Pizarro's sherry and tapas bar José on the former site of Bermondsey Kitchen.

Restaurant chain Yo! Sushi is set to expand across the Atlantic after signing its first franchise agreement in the USA. The company, which currently operates restaurants in the UK, Ireland, Portugal and the Middle East, has signed a deal with the Sushi Company of North America to open 10 outlets.

US-based Mexican restaurant group Chipotle has opened its second London restaurant in Baker Street. The firm, which has over 1,100 restaurants in the USA, debuted the concept in the UK in London last year at its 114-116 Charing Cross Road site.

London-based pizza chain Rossopomodoro has opened its first outlet outside the capital, with the launch of a concession in the food hall of Selfridges Birmingham. Rossopomodoro has opened a 60-seat restaurant in the department store serving a selection of artisan pizzas and pasta dishes.
