Cheltenham's Ellenborough Park awarded five AA stars

Graham Vass and colleaguesThe 62-bedroom Ellenborough Park hotel, which opened in Cheltenham a year ago, has just been awarded five stars by the AA. Situated in a 16th-century manor house, overlooking Cheltenham racecourse, the hotel is operated by the Mantis Group.

New luxury hotel gets green light in City of London

Catererandhotekeeper NewsThe go-ahead has been given for the conversion of the former Port of London Authority headquarters, next to the Tower of London, into a luxury hotel. Work is now expected to start later this year on the development of the Grade II-listed building at 10 Trinity Square into a 120-bedroom hotel with 41 serviced apartments.

Sale of Hotel Solutions to Housekeeping Solutions saves 1,100 jobs

Norman Springford given Lifetime Achievement Award by HIT Scotland

The award was unanimously awarded to Springford, whose Edinburgh-based company owns and operates eight hotels in Edinburgh, Dundee and London.

Seaham Hall sold to Seasons Holidays for slashed-down price

The five-red-AA-star, 20-bedroom Seaham Hall in Durham has become the latest former Von Essen hotel to be sold. Originally put on the market for £12.5m, the price was later slashed to £5m. It is believed that the new owners Seasons Holidays paid less than the asking price.

Laura Ashley buys hotel to showcase furnishings

Edgwarebury hotelLaura Ashley has bought a 49-bedroom hotel in Hertfordshire to showcase its range of furnishings and design service. The Edgwarebury hotel in Elstree, was purchased by the high-street group for £5.8m from Corus Hotels, which is controlled by MUI Group.

Royal Crescent hotel in BathThe 29-bedroom Royal Crescent hotel in Bath - one of the trophy assets in the collapsed Von Essen portfolio of hotels - has been sold for a rumoured £18m to private international investment company the Topland Group. The Grade I-listed hotel was originally put on the market for £22m.
