Café-bar and restaurant group Loungers has reached 20 sites, following the opening of its new Cosy Club in Stamford, Lincolnshire. The site, which is the third of its new female-friendly Cosy Clubs, is in Stamford's former postal delivery office and is the largest Cosy Club, at 6,000sq ft.

Tax consultancy RSM Tenon has started offering VAT health checks to hospitality businesses after the taxman launched a crackdown on tax evasion in the restaurant sector. Earlier this month, HMRC revealed it was investigating 530 restaurants for tax evasion in London, the North-west and Scotland.

Food service wholesaler Brakes Group has won gold in the food and drink category at the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice. Brakes beat the Green Earth Appeal and London Clubs International to win the award, which was announced at a ceremony at the House of Commons on Monday (14 November).
