The Capital Pub Company, which is currently fending off the advances of Fuller's, has bought the freehold of the Village in Muswell Hill, London, for £2.9m. Capital said the 6,000sq ft site, which is close to its existing north London pubs, would undergo a £150,000 refurbishment and would open in early September.

Catering company Rhubarb is to launch a new restaurant at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3 next month. The group previously operated a restaurant at Heathrow from August 2008 to November 2010 but closed it in conjunction with the airport's refurbishment of Terminal 3 and will now open a bigger eaterie on 6 July.

The London Designer Outlet, the 350,000sq ft retail and leisure centre set to open in Wembley City in 2013, has signed its first group of restaurant operators. The development will include 85 retail outlets including 15 restaurants and bars, and a nine-screen Cineworld cinema.

Aiden Byrne, chef proprietor of the Church Green in Lymm, Cheshire, and the Collingwood in West Kirby, is to launch a third restaurant, Caterersearch.com can reveal. The chef has teamed up with Macdonald Hotels and will open the Aiden Byrne British Grill at the group's Craxton Wood hotel near Chester.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is set to expand his presence on the high street by opening a new restaurant chain called Union Jacks. Building on the success of Jamie's Italian, which has grown to 18 restaurants across the UK in just three years, Oliver now plans to launch the second chain of restaurants.

London chef-restaurateur Malcolm John has launched his fifth restaurant in the capital and his second Fish & Grill. Located in Putney, the all-day restaurant serves a menu focused on fresh fish and crustaceans from the South Coast and Cornwall and also includes meats from the grill.

Westfield Stratford City, the retail development next to the Olympic Park in east London, has confirmed a string of restaurant operators, Caterersearch.com can reveal. The £1.45b development, which will open on 13 September as the largest urban shopping centre in Europe, will feature 300 shops and restaurants across 177,000sq m.

Radisson Edwardian is set to create 165 jobs when it opens its new hotel in Guildford in September. The company has already announced several senior appointments for the hotel, with Peter Wardley as general manager, Bill Edwards as director of sales and Stephen Botha as deputy general manager.

This 150-year-old hotel has recently reopened in the Swiss capital following an extensive two-year refurbishment. Elements of the traditional hotel have been retained through antique mirrors, furniture and paintings alongside the contemporary taupe decor, which includes an illuminated onyx reception desk and Murano glass throughout.

Hotel group IHG signed a further 54 hotels to its European pipeline across the Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo brands in the year June 2010 to May 2011. The deals represent more than 7,800 rooms in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Bar and casual-dining business Loungers has announced plans for seven additional sites by next April after reporting a 55% growth in turnover and a rise in profit of 88%. The Bristol-based group saw turnover increase to £10.93m (from £7.07m) in the year to 30 April.

Spanish food importer and restaurant operator Brindisa is relaunching its Soho restaurant Tierra Brindisa as a tapas bar. The 45-seat Spanish restaurant, which opened two years ago, has undergone a month-long refurbishment and will reopen as Tapas Brindisa this week.
