Hotel revenue per available room (revpar) dropped by 6.9% in London and by 12.9% in the provinces in the week ending 23 May 2009, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global. London revpar fell to £110.65, down from £118.86 in the in the equivalent week of 2008.

Almost a third of UK consumers will be holidaying in the UK this summer, research has revealed. A Onepoll survey of 3,300 consumers, commissioned by budget hotel group Travelodge, showed that the number going abroad has fallen to 27% (2008: 33%), with 32% planning a domestic holiday.
