Pub group Orchid could be forced to hold discussions with its main lender, Lloyds Banking Group, after it admitted it was likely to breach its loan covenants. The firm, which runs 290 pubs and restaurants nationwide, is set to breach covenants on £42.4m of debt, according to the Sunday Times.

The Potting Shed at Crudwell in Wiltshire has been named the Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide 2012. The guide, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, also made 11 other national awards and nine regional pub of the year awards.

Peach has taken its pub estate to 15, with the acquisition of Brookmans in Hertfordshire. The deal comes after Brookmans went into administration under its previous owners in June this year. The pub is close to Hatfield, St Albans and Potters Bar. Peach said the site was ripe for restoration.
