Some 30 years ago, Abraham Bejerano spotted a row of townhouses near Marble Arch in London and thought they would make a great setting for a hotel. This week his fantasy has been realised with the opening of the Arch, a five-star hotel with a difference. Janet Harmer reports

Located on Northcote Road in Battersea, this is the first of a planned group of pubs offering one of the biggest ranges of draft (17) and bottled beers (more than 50) in the capital. The British menu includes roasts on Sundays.

This is the latest venture from the Inc Group, which is located in the former site of Ubon in Canary Wharf. Named after the financial hub in New York, the restaurant serves a modern European menu and will soon launch private members' bar the Battery Club.

Housed in the former site of Jean-Christophe Ansanay-Alex's Michelin-starred Ambassade de l'Ile, this French restaurant in Kensington offers a classic bistro menu. The kitchen is headed up by former Roux Scholar, Armand Sablon.

This Soho restaurant specialises in Indian street food and offers its signature mooli - a roti served with a variety of fillings and chutneys. Ex-Benares chef Raju Rawat has developed the menu, which is available for eat-in and take-away.

Located at 5,200 feet above the Shivalik Valley in Himachai Pradesh, the hotel is three-and-a-half-hours from New Delhi. The final stage of the journey to the resort, the first operated by Centara Hotels and Resorts outside of Thailand, is by a 10-minute cable car ride.
