London hotels leading Europe out of recession, says report

London hotels are predicted to achieved double-digit growth in revpar this yearLondon is leading European hotels out of the recession, according to business advisory firm Deloitte. While hotels throughout Europe will see a growth in occupancy, average room rates and revenue per available room (revpar), it will be difficult to surpass pre-recessionary levels this year, explained Alex Kyriakidis, global managing partner of tourism, hospitality and leisure at Deloitte.

STR GlobalHotel revenue per available room (revpar) rose by 7.4% in London but fell by 1.9% across the regions in the week ending 13 February 2010, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global. London hotels enjoyed a strong recovery in trade in DecemberLondon hotels enjoyed a strong boost to profitability during December 2009 as trading recovered strongly, according to the latest HotStats survey from TRI Hospitality Consulting.
