The former Le Meridien Copacabana hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has been sold for around R$170m (£54.5m). The 38-floor property is one of the most famous landmarks in Rio de Janeiro and is situated in a prime position overlooking the Copacabana and the Atlantic Ocean.

Pub chain Wear Inns is set to expand its portfolio with the opening of two new bars and the takeover of three more in the pipeline. The North-east-based company has built up a nine-strong portfolio of pubs since its launch in 2006 and has announced plans to increase this to more than 20 sites.
