Mark Hunter, the chief executive of Molson Coors UK, has taken over from Marston's boss Ralph Findlay as chairman of the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA). The move comes as Findlay completes his two-year term of office. Hunter joined Bass Brewers in the 1980s and became marketing director in 1997.

Stephen and Joanna Bulmer, owners of the Brook Hall Cookery School in Winslow, Buckinghamshire, are to close the business to join the 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group. The husband and wife team, who have run the school since 2007, will shut it at the end of the month.

Former Michelin-starred chef Clive Dixon is to join the White Oak country pub in Cookham, Berkshire, as chef-patron. Dixon, who previously worked as head chef at Pierre Koffmann's restaurant at the Berkeley Hotel in London, has formed a partnership with owners Henry and Katherine Cripps.

The Castle hotel and Brazz brasserie in Taunton, Somerset, have appointed Marc Mac Closkey as the new general manager. Mac Closkey, 42, joins the 44-bedroom property from the 50-bedroom Lisloughrey Lodge in Cong, County Mayo.

The Bingham, a restaurant with rooms in Richmond upon Thames, has appointed James Stillwell as sommelier. He joins the Bingham from the Dorchester Collection, having worked in London at the Dorchester Hotel and more recently at Coworth Park.

Gordon Ramsay Holdings’ (GRH) executive head chef Mark Askew is to leave the business, it was revealed this evening. He will leave the celebrity chef’s restaurant empire in January to be operations director of a pub company that he co-founded.

Two of D&D London's most celebrated chefs are to leave their restaurants within the company, with Blueprint Café's Jeremy Lee and Launceston Place's Tristan Welch both moving on. Lee, who has been head chef at Blueprint Café for 16 years, is to join Sam and Eddie Hart's Quo Vadis in Soho.
