VisitBritain has called upon UK business to invite friends, relatives and past customers from around the world to visit Britain in 2012, as part of the latest phase of the national tourism agency's 'GREAT Britain - You're Invited' marketing programme.

Pride Catering has scooped a hat trick of silver Food for Life Catering Marks for its school meals work in the South-east. The caterer's contracts at Vineyard, Heathfield and Brookland schools - all in the South-east - were previously bronze. Pride now holds one gold, four silver and seven bronze catering marks.

Preheat the oven to 190°C. Begin by making the filling. Slowly bring the cream to the boil, remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate until melted. Stir in the Drambuie and mincemeat and leave to set in the fridge. When set, mould into balls, roughly 125g each.

Emma Powell, a chef-manager at Wilson Vale, has become the company's first female area manager, assuming responsibility for a portfolio of clients in the Midlands. A chef for the past 13 years, Powell joined the contract caterer as a relief chef manager in May 2010.

Aramark has announced that Graham Merchant, a divisional director with the contract caterer until November 2010, has died. In a note to colleagues, the UK chief executive Andrew Main said that Merchant passed away on December 16 following a short illness related to a hereditary kidney condition.
