The Savoy Educational Trust has announced it is to sponsor nine scholarships worth £3,000 each at the Edge Hotel School. The scholarships will be spread over three intakes at the UK's first hotel school run in a fully operational hotel, starting with students enrolling in June, July and September 2012.

Budget airline Ryanair is set to shake up the hotel bookings market, after announcing the launch of its new hotel comparison website, RyanairHotels.com. Linking up with HotelsCombined, a hotel comparison engine, the site will search over 300,000 hotels across Europe and plans to deliver "honest, verified, guest reviews and the lowest bedroom prices".

London's Mandeville Hotel is to open a new restaurant and bar next month, with the launch of the Reform Social and Grill. Located in Marylebone Village, the new British-themed restaurant, which has been inspired by classic gentlemen's clubs, will have a separate entrance on Mandeville Place.

De Vere Venues is to manage a new eco-friendly hotel being developed in the grounds of the East Midland Conference Centre (EMCC), at the University of Nottingham. The agreement to run the 202-bedroom hotel is part of a wider arrangement to manage EMCC, part of Nottingham Conference.

French hotel group Accor has reported a solid performance during the first quarter of 2012, with an increase in like-for-like revenue of 4.5%. Growth in revenue across the company's 4,400 hotels and 530,000 rooms in 92 countries was driven by an increase in room rates across all segments.
