Under the direction of the Security Officer, and within the limits of One Aldwych policies and procedures, to protect hotel guests, staff, their property and hotel property during the night shift. Works on a rota basis, 12 hr shifts (7am to 7pm / 7pm to 7am), 4 on 4 off.
*Carry out regular patrols of all public and service areas in the hotel, ensuring guest rooms, service cupboards and stores are secure.
*Maintain periods of static watch in the lobby or other areas according to the situation.
*Eject undesirables from hotel areas.
*Investigate promptly emergency calls, especially fire and other 999 calls and alarms.
*Initiate scene of crime procedures in the event of theft or other crime. To include preparation of witness statements, isolation and protection of the scene. To prepare full reports of incidents and losses in the appropriate books.
*Observe and report fire, flood and safety hazards and where possible take action to rectify them.
*Regularly check the security of external fire exits and those routes are clear and unobstructed. To replace glass plates where necessary.
*Receive into safe custody, secure and log lost property handed to security from all sources.
*Receive, log and liaise with housekeeping on lost property reports and claims.
*Maintain the security and records of keys issued and the security of the key cabinet.
*Prepare, issue and log I.D. swipe cards for regular and casual staff.
*Prepare, issue and log premise passes for contractors on site, and ensure that relevant works passes are authorised and issued.
*Ensure that all emergency situations, such as bomb threats, are handled in the correct fashion and that the necessary follow-up procedures and search policies are implemented.
*Provide first aid assistance to all staff and guests when required, and to complete and distribute the necessary incident report and accident logs following any such incident.
*Conduct periodic checks on staff to ensure correct 'take-out' procedures are adopted and hotel property is protected.
*Check on a daily basis the arrivals and departure reports, and V.I.P report.
*Diagnose needs of the security department, to include the following:
Fire prevention and safety techniques.
Basic fire fighting.
First aid.
Preservation of crime scene evidence.
Actions, duties and powers where crime is detected.
Actions in crises situations, involving evacuation.
Report writing.
Civil and criminal law of the municipality and country.
*In conjunction with Human Resources and the Chief Engineer, ensure that all staff receive adequate training in emergency, fire, bomb and evacuation procedure training and any other type of training which is needed to ensure overall safety and security of all personnel and property in the building.
*Assist all other departments as and when required.
Job Requirements: Candidates must have:
A service or hotel background or similar work within the security field.
A basic knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. Basic Powers of Arrest for Civilians.
A minimum of proven experience in security.
Needs to be able to communicate with suppliers and subordinates effectively.
Good communication and report writing skills.
Must be physically fit and active.
Must be immaculately presented.
Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
An absolute standard requirement/use own initiative.
Must be able to work under pressure and not panic in different circumstances
