A 56-bedroom Holiday Inn Express has opened today on Merseyside as part of a £5.5m redevelopment scheme by Sanguine Hospitality. The Holiday Inn Express Liverpool-Hoylake opened in Hoylake, Wirral, on the site of the former Kings Gap Court hotel.

Marco Pierre White has made two key appointments to lead his Newcastle restaurant the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill. The celebrity chef's newest venture will see Matt Castelli join as its new executive head chef, and George Liddle take the reins as restaurant manager.

A Berkshire pub at the centre of a legal dispute between Marco Pierre White and its former business partners has been put up for sale. The owners, businessmen Andrew Parton and Peter Featherman, are looking for offers in excess of £1.65m for the freehold of the Yew Tree Inn in Highclere, near Newbury.

Channel 5 is looking for couples who run restaurants to participate in a new, and as-yet-unnamed TV show fronted by Marco Pierre White (pictured). The TV channel said it wanted pairs who run restaurants across the UK, from fine-dining establishments to gastropubs, cafés, bistros, hotels, curry houses and "anything in between".
