Celebrity chef James Martin is to launch a restaurant at the Talbot hotel in his home town of Malton, North Yorkshire. Owned by the Fitzwilliam Estate for more than 200 years, the Talbot is currently closed while it undergoes a £4m restoration. It will reopen in the spring.

Gary Rhodes will open his fourth overseas restaurant with the launch of Rhodes 44 at the St Regis Abu Dhabi this summer. Rhodes 44 will offer the Michelin-starred chef's signature cuisine with Arabic influences. It will be the third overseas venture by Rhodes in collaboration with Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Jamie Oliver is to open the first non-London branch of his new restaurant concept, Union Jacks, in Winchester in the summer. A new restaurant is to open in London's West End next week, offering British food and wines. 52° North Bar & Kitchen, which is owned by Alula Leisure, will officially launch in Soho on 7 February. Directors Tim Lalic and Vahram Papazyan said the aim was to create an accessible restaurant and bar offering a quality-driven wine list and menus.

Former Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing intends to build a luxury country house hotel in the grounds of his Shropshire estate. The multimillion-pound plans outline the development of a 63-bedroom hotel with an indoor swimming pool, spa and restaurant at the 320-acre Astbury Hall estate, near Bridgnorth.

The opening of the 85-bedroom luxury hotel Belgraves in London's Belgravia on 8 February marks the UK debt for US group, Thompson Hotels. A joint venture with the Hong Kong-based Harilela Group, the hotel aims to combine New York attitude with traditional British hospitality.

Za Za Bazaar, the giant buffet restaurant, which launched in Bristol last month, is to open its second site, in Norwich. The new restaurant, set to launch at the city's Riverside Entertainment Centre, will have a capacity for up to 600 diners. The 25,000sq ft site is currently undergoing a £2.5m redevelopment.
