Britannia Hotels has purchased the 103-bedroom Ramada Hotel Leeds North out of administration for an undisclosed sum. It will be renamed as the Britannia Leeds hotel and become be the 38th hotel to be added to the privately owned portfolio of hotels, run by Alex Langsam.

London-based pub company Fuller, Smith & Turner has agreed to buy 15 freehold tenanted pubs from rival Enterprise Inns. Fuller's is paying £22.9m in cash for the pubs, which generated operating profits of £1.7m in the year to 30 September 2011...

London-based pub company Fuller Smith & Turner has bought the Market hotel, a pub in the centre of Reigate, Surrey. The Market will be Fuller's first pub in Reigate and takes the Fuller's estate to 367 sites.

Former Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing intends to build a luxury country house hotel in the grounds of his Shropshire estate. The multimillion-pound plans outline the development of a 63-bedroom hotel with an indoor swimming pool, spa and restaurant at the 320-acre Astbury Hall estate, near Bridgnorth.

Triple Catey winners Ian and Christa Taylor have bought the 60-bedroom Abbey hotel in Bath and have plans to transform the three-star property into a mid-market boutique offering. The hotel - one of the oldest in Bath - has been acquired from Compass Hotels, which has run the Abbey for 23 years.

The Edwardian Group is to open its third hotel on London's Leicester Square, with the announcement that it has purchased the square's Odeon site. It is believed that the 14-strong privately owned hotel group paid around £100m for the location, from Ireland's National Asset Management Agency.

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has taken over the management of the privately-owned three-star, 48-bedroom Haycock hotel in Wansford, Cambridgeshire. Situated north-west of Peterborough, the 16th-century property will operate as a Macdonald Associate Hotel and will benefit from sales, marketing and management services.

Malmaison is to open a 91-bedroom hotel in Dundee, as part of the second-largest regeneration project in Scotland. The new 91-bedroom Malmaison Dundee is being created on the site of the old Tay Hotel, a listed city-centre landmark building, and forms part of the £1b Dundee Central Waterfront Development.

Two late-night venues at St Matthew's Church in London's Brixton have been put up for sale by their owner, Chicks Ltd. Davis Coffer Lyons is dealing with the sale of Babalou bar, restaurant and club, as well as Mass nightclub, both of which are housed in the 1820s building.

Average pub property prices remained broadly stable in 2011 but more of the pubs sold stayed as pubs, according to property agent Christie & Co. In its Business Outlook 2012, Christie & Co indicated that the rate of closures was slowing. Some 64% of pubs sold remained as pubs during the year.

Business property prices, including those in the hospitality sector, fell by an average of 2.48 per cent in 2011, according to property agent Christie & Co's Business Outlook 2012 publication. This followed a marginal increase during 2010 of 0.3%.

De Vere Group is expected to sell four hotels and one conference venue to fund the expansion of its three-star Village Hotels business. The Times reported that Village Hotels will develop up to 18 new hotels over the next few years.

The world-renowned golfing hotel and resort the Belfry, which has hosted the Ryder Cup four times, has been put up for sale. The 324-bedroom hotel, set within a 550-acre resort in Warwickshire, is currently owned by Irish businessman Sean Quinn, who is currently facing bankruptcy in the republic.

London-based pub company Young's has sold the freehold of the Stinging Nettle pub in Shepherd's Bush W12. The deal, brokered by Davis Coffer Lyons, sees PPR Estates take on the site for development use.
The Stinging Nettle is a three-storey, two-bar operation opposite Goldhawk Station .

Roadside restaurant chain Little Chef has confirmed that it will close 67 sites and shed between 500 and 600 jobs. In a statement the company said the sites had been trading unprofitably for a number of years and their closure would allow Little Chef to focus its resources on developing its more successful restaurants.

Birmingham's oldest gay night-spot, Nightingale, has been sold to Midlands-based licensed trade operators Westbourne Leisure after falling into administration in November last year. The deal, brokered by property agents Christie & Co, will see Westbourne's trading partners, Lawrence Barton and family, run the business.
