London-based pub company Fuller Smith & Turner has bought the Market hotel, a pub in the centre of Reigate, Surrey. The Market will be Fuller's first pub in Reigate and takes the Fuller's estate to 367 sites.

Triple Catey winners Ian and Christa Taylor have bought the 60-bedroom Abbey hotel in Bath and have plans to transform the three-star property into a mid-market boutique offering. The hotel - one of the oldest in Bath - has been acquired from Compass Hotels, which has run the Abbey for 23 years.

The Edwardian Group is to open its third hotel on London's Leicester Square, with the announcement that it has purchased the square's Odeon site. It is believed that the 14-strong privately owned hotel group paid around £100m for the location, from Ireland's National Asset Management Agency.

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has taken over the management of the privately-owned three-star, 48-bedroom Haycock hotel in Wansford, Cambridgeshire. Situated north-west of Peterborough, the 16th-century property will operate as a Macdonald Associate Hotel and will benefit from sales, marketing and management services.

Malmaison is to open a 91-bedroom hotel in Dundee, as part of the second-largest regeneration project in Scotland. The new 91-bedroom Malmaison Dundee is being created on the site of the old Tay Hotel, a listed city-centre landmark building, and forms part of the £1b Dundee Central Waterfront Development.

London-based pub and bar operator Food and Fuel has bought the Prince of Wales in Putney, London, from pub company Etive. The deal for the tied leasehold business, which was for an undisclosed sum, takes Food and Fuel's estate to 11 sites.

The world-renowned golfing hotel and resort the Belfry, which has hosted the Ryder Cup four times, has been put up for sale. The 324-bedroom hotel, set within a 550-acre resort in Warwickshire, is currently owned by Irish businessman Sean Quinn, who is currently facing bankruptcy in the republic.

London-based pub company Young's has sold the freehold of the Stinging Nettle pub in Shepherd's Bush W12. The deal, brokered by Davis Coffer Lyons, sees PPR Estates take on the site for development use.
The Stinging Nettle is a three-storey, two-bar operation opposite Goldhawk Station .

Birmingham's oldest gay night-spot, Nightingale, has been sold to Midlands-based licensed trade operators Westbourne Leisure after falling into administration in November last year. The deal, brokered by property agents Christie & Co, will see Westbourne's trading partners, Lawrence Barton and family, run the business.

Principal Hayley has bought back six hotels for £200m from property fund AAIM. The hotel group, which has 22 hotels in the UK, then immediately sold the freehold of the properties to Parmerica, the real-estate arm of America's Prudential, and will continue to operate them on a 175-year lease.

The nine-bedroom Ynyshir Hall country house hotel in Powys has been bought by Joan and Rob Reen, the former owners who sold the property to Von Essen Hotels in 2006. Joan Reen said she was "absolutely delighted" to have regained ownership of the property.

SBG Restaurants, owned by Richard Muir and William Rollason, has added its second Livebait restaurant to its portfolio, having bought the Leeds site from in-administraiton Paramount Restaurant Group. Muir and Rollason, former chairman of Paramount, made their first acquisition for their new company from Paramount in November last year.

Casual-dining chain La Tasca has become the latest firm to acquire a site from in-administration Paramount, buying Brasserie Gérard in Newbury, Berkshire. La Tasca said the move was the first time the firm had hit the expansion trail in four years.

Bespoke Hotels has taken over a long-term lease and the management of the Cotswold House hotel and Noel Arms in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire. The hotel management company has acquired the lease of the two hotels from Egyptian-based Concorde Hotel Management.

Travelodge intends to take advantage of the weak property market by expanding its location wish-list to 146 sites. The budget hotel chain said it was responding to the availability of sites that would previously have been sold for prime residential and commercial use.

Italian restaurant group Spaghetti House has acquired two London sites from Paramount Restaurants following the group's collapse into administration. Spaghetti House has taken over the Bertorelli Restaurant on Argyle Street, near Oxford Circus, and Brasserie Gerard on Kensington High Street.
