Travelodge has announced that it has received a record number of applications for JuMP, its junior management apprenticeship programme, as university applications plummet. The budget hotel group said it had received more than 3,000 CVs for its 45 apprentice positions, equating to 66 school-leavers going after every position.

Hilton Worldwide is looking to recruit 50 young chefs to join its Chef Apprenticeship Academy this summer. The programme, which has already trained around 60 apprentices since the academy launched in 2010, will offer students a 12-month apprenticeship.

A new chefs' forum has been launched in Bristol, headed up by Chris Wicks, executive chef of Berwick Lodge, and Josh Eggleton, chef-proprietor of the Michelin-starred Pony & Trap. The forum, which was launched earlier this week, invites chefs with Michelin, AA or Good Food accreditations to network.
