Leading industry charity Springboard raised nearly £150,000 at its 21st birthday celebrations at London's Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott hotel, on Friday night. The money raised will go towards helping young, unemployed and disadvantaged people to obtain worthwhile careers in the hospitality industry.

Sixteen-year old Jessica Higgins has been crowned winner of Futurechef 2011. Higgins saw off stiff competition from 11 other finalists with her menu, impressing a panel of high profile judges, including Theo Randall, Cyrus Todiwala OBE and Joe Queen, led by David Mulcahy of Sodexo.

Amy Dignon, restaurant manager at the Cameron House hotel in Loch Lomond has won the Savoy Gastronomes’ Olive Barnett Award 2010. Dignon won the award at a ceremony in the newly-refurbished Savoy hotel in London, beating seven other finalists.

Joe Queen, executive head chef at the Thistle hotel in Glasgow has scooped the Chris Beaumont Award at last night's Springboard Awards for Excellence ceremony in London. Queen was rewarded for his "outstanding contribution to the industry and support of Springboard's aims and initiatives".
