Planning permission has been granted to Puma Hotels for the development of a 107-bedroom lodge hotel adjacent to the Harrogate International Centre (HIC). The hotel will be directly linked into a new 3,400sqm exhibition facility which is to be built as part of the first phase in the redevelopment of the HIC.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a deal to open a new Holiday Inn hotel at the MediaCityUK development in Manchester.

Former Caterer and Hotelkeeper Acorn winner Andrew Coney has been appointed general manager of a new, £20m hotel in York. The Grand hotel and spa is being developed by Yorkshire-based hotel group Cedar Court, which has four hotels in the region, as its first five-star venue.
