GMB blames rents as pub lager price rises outstrip inflation and tax by 80p per pint

The average pint of lager in pubs is 80p more expensive than is justified by inflation and like-for-like changes in taxes since 1987, a new study has claimed. The GMB union, which produced the research, blamed the rising cost of pub rents for increased beer prices.

Unions call for increase in national minimum wage to £6.14 an hour

TUC logoThe TUC will tell the Low Pay Commission (LPC) to recommend raising the adult national minimum wage next year by 21p to £6.14 an hour when the two organisations meet on 1 November. The TUC will put the case to the LPC, which advises the Government on the minimum wage.
